After seeing the post for these I just HAD to give it a try. If you'd like to see the ORIGINAL BLOG TUTORIAL just click the BUTTON!
I thought you guys might like to see what takes up my time!  These little critters are so fun to do and really simple.  If you just happen to be a teacher this just may be your new "go to" Christmas project for your classes!

HOLIDAY GLASS MARBLED ORNAMENTS
  • Box of IRIDESCENT GLASS ORNAMENTS
  • Bottles of Acrylic Paints in your chosen colors; you can use pretty much any brand
  • Iridescent medium (find this with the watercolors...kind of pricey but worth it!
  • GOLD and/or SILVER bottled Acrylic Paint (get the larger bottle!)

POUR A LITTLE RUBBING ALCOHOL INSIDE EACH ORNAMENT TO CLEAN IT. THE PAINT WILL STICK BETTER AND GIVE YOU MUCH BETTER RESULTS!

Okay, after you clean your ornaments it's time to add the paint.

~ONLY USE 2 COLORS and silver or gold.  If you choose 3 colors (other than the primary ones...red, yellow, blue) you will end up with a really gross looking brownish grey!
~Carefully drip paint on the sides of the opening of the ornaments and let the paint run down.  I like to then take the ornament and "roll" it in my hands so that the paint doesn't just run vertically or horizontally.
~Shake out excess paint onto the freezer paper.
~Carefully add your SECOND color and do the same thing.
~Now...add GOLD or SILVER for some bling!  Roll that ornament in your hands like your were rolling a wad of dough to make sure the insides are completely covered with paint.
~TURN YOUR ORNAMENT ON IT'S SIDE ON THE FREEZER PAPER AND JUST LEAVE IT THERE TO DRY FOR A FEW DAYS~

~Once the paint is dry, you MAY want to pour a little rubbing alcohol inside and swirl it around.  It helps remove any excess paint build-up and kind of cleans things up a bit. Don't leave it too long because it WILL remove the paint!
~Hot glue the metal top on each ornament.
~Tie a cute little bow onto the metal top.
~CLEAN EACH ORNAMENT WITH ALCOHOL TO MAKE IT SHINE, SHINE, SHINE!

** I love the way these turn out. But there IS another way.  IF you own any colored inks such as Dr. Ph Martin's Bombay Inks, they create a completely different effect.  Drip the ink from the dropper just like you would with the paint. Pour out any excess and let it dry a bit.  Add a SECOND color, following the same process. After it's pretty dry you can add SILVER or GOLD acrylic paint.  These ornaments are a little less opaque and you COULD use several colors if you are very, very careful.  Adding alcohol to the inks helps them dry faster and really adds to the effect.

Okay...now you can have the best dressed tree in the neighborhood!  I offer these ornaments in my Etsy shop if you're interested. In fact, the photo is an order I was working on in pink, pistachio green and silver. They were the little ornaments...much harder to do than the larger ones!
